The tether cannot be removed on co-op. Basically, the world loads up on the host's client at a certain distance. If the person who joined the host gets far away, they will fall through the world since it isn't loaded. Thank you for understanding.

It's only in the Testlive right now, but, once you make a co-op world, go into the server settings, click on "Make me admin" and poof, an option below allows the tether to increase to 54000. You can go from the starting zone, on the broken road, all the way to an overhang across the river.

There is a tether distance slider in the server settings, its set at 12.000 but you can move this up to 52.000, if you haven't already done this. go to server settings click on make me admin then at the bottom there is the slider.
